Have you ever noticed how on all the cooking programs on TV everything looks so simple to make? Of course there's a lot of "Here's one I prepared previously" going on, but that's not the only part that makes it look so easy. I've watched it closely lately and I've realized the secret to their success is preparation. You know how they've always got all of their ingredients measured out sitting waiting in small stainless steel bowls? Then, to cook something, it's as easy as "add a bit of this, then a bit of that and a pinch of this," and then, hey presto, it's finished How easy is that? I call it "prepared cooking" and it has inspired me to change my ways. No "prepared cooking" kitchen is complete without a decent set of stainless steel bowls to mix and prepare in and, frankly, mine were not up to scratch. But, I was not going to give up on my dream of prepared cooking Straight on to Amazon.com I went to look for a good set of stainless steel mixing/preparation bowls. Wow What a range - there were almost too many to select from. In fact I had so much trouble deciding that I ended up ordering 3 different sets. Another thing I love about shopping on Amazon, with their no hassle returns policy, I knew it was okay for me to order three sets and send back the two I no longer wanted. The three sets arrived and I was nearly instantly able to tell which ones I would keep - the packaging itself was almost enough to convince me. The Checkered Chef set was delivered in a strong, sturdy box, branded with their usual check pattern - a far cry from the flimsy unmarked brown box one of the other sets arrived in. Once they were unpacked it was easy to tell that the high quality extended beyond the box. The Checkered Chef bowls seemed heavier and sturdier than the other 2 sets - I don't know if I could dent them if I tried - one of the bowls from the other sets arrived with a dent in it (probably due to the poor packaging). It was an easy decision - I returned the other 2 sets and have proudly started using my Checkered Chef bowls in my cooking preparation. It's actually become a real time saver - I use the kids to help get the ingredients ready One can be measuring 2 cups of flour into a bowl while the other is measuring half a cup of sugar into another bowl - in no time all the ingredients are ready and, just like you see on the TV, it's so quick to put it all together. I know what you're probably thinking - what about all the washing up with the extra bowls? You know what? I don't even notice it - I just put them into the dishwasher and my work is done There are plenty of uses for this set in every kitchen - whether it's beating up an egg or 2 or mixing up a whole cake mixture. And, as they are stainless steel without any rubber coating on the base, they can also be used over a pot of boiling water as a double boiler to melt chocolate. Whether it's mixing, double-boiling or preparation, the number of tasks you will discover for this set in your kitchen is endless So, if you think you'd like to try "preparation cooking", or if you're just in the market for a good quality set of stainless steel mixing bowls, I highly recommend this set.
