I went to lunch with a buddy the other day to ask him about his companys marketing quest. You see, I knew that he and his partner had hired a marketing coach a couple of years back. I needed to discover what their knowledge was like and where they had problems and successes on the way. This particular company is extremely typical of the little, service-based businesses that I focus on within my marketing exercise. Theyd let you know that they are a few accountants who are really good at what they do and enjoy the clients they use. They would also let you know that they were not marketing people who knew how to get a constant flow of new business. I asked my friend if there was a certain stage or event that eventually triggered their marketing discovery. I needed to know what they learned through their own trial and error. I wanted to determine if there was something specific that helped them finally break the code on advertising. At first h-e thought the answer was if they finally narrowed down their marketplace. They finally defined a niche that has been a good fit for them, made sense to them, and helped them stay laser beam focused. We agreed that was an enormous breakthrough. Its usually simple to say, but often very hard for smaller businesses to narrow their target audience. That was a move that was clearly paying dividends for my friends business. But, it was not truly the solution for what helped them make their marketing breakthrough. Learn more on PureVolume™ Were Listening To You by visiting our thought-provoking website. After a little further discussion we discovered that the practice never made any advertising progress clarified their Vision and Purpose and until they identified. Without a clearly outlined Purpose and Vision, the company owners can never really articulate what they were and what they were trying to get done. It was confirmed by a little more discussion with his partner for people. Without clarifying their perspective and purpose, the business was very reactive. None of the marketing strategies or tactics that their marketing coach was helping them implement became effective. The fact was they were reactively using whatever business they could get through the doorway. Clarifying their Purpose and Vision produced the marketing breakthrough. Perspective and purpose tell you and everyone else what its where you want to go and youre out to cause and what impact you want to create with all the business. Achieving this gave his partner and my friend emphasis and direction that did not exist before. It made thinning their marketplace and all these other marketing strategies and tactics make sense. I began to think about all of my own personal client relationships. A while right back Id decided to build articulating purpose and perspective in-to my ABCD Growth Marketing Model. It was a bit that appeared to be missing from effective marketing connections and now my lunch dialogue appears to have established it for me.
